Food can be expensive, but buying in large quantities can help reduce the cost. Unfortunately, a lot of us don't have much use for, say, fifty pounds of rice, and no good way to store that much food. However, if ten people split the cost of a fifty-pound bag of rice, they can each get five pounds of rice for quite a bit less than they'd be able to buy individually.
That's the goal of this organization: to help all of us reduce grocery costs by pooling purchases together where it makes sense and, ideally, build some community with our fellow residents while we do so. All of this buying will be done at-cost, with receipts and unit costs for each purchase published here after each purchase is made, so you know that you are actually receiving the cost benefits of this group buying.
